Shin Splints

“Shin splint” is a generic term used to describe pain on the front side of the shin. This is more common in endurance athletes, or those who play high impact sports (ex. Runners, basketball players).

There are two main causes of shin splints. One involves imbalances of the lower legs musculature, while the other has to do with the foot’s ability to absorb shock. Our doctors can help distinguish between the different types, and rule out more serious pathologies. We will then formulate a specific treatment plan for your age and activity level.
